SMM, 17 Apr: according to the latest news from foreign media, French mining company Eramet said that its SLN nickel project has received support from the New Caledonian government and that nickel ore exports have been approved.

The SLN project, whose full name is Socii é t é Le Nickel, is a subsidiary of Eramet in New Caledonia, which produces ferronickel.

According to the latest understanding, the specific export quota of nickel ore for the SLN project will be about 4 million tons / year, 1.5 million tons by 2019 and 4 million tons by mid-2020.

According to SMM analysis, compared with the nickel mining powers Indonesia and the Philippines, New Caledonian has a small proportion of nickel ore and very little export to China, with only 835000 wet tons in 2018, so the news has little impact on the domestic market.
